Great News for Bridgend: Easier Town Centre Collections at Nearest Beer Shop!
We have some fantastic news for those of you who regularly pop into the town centre to stock up your fridges. Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) has just announced updated vehicle access rules for the high street starting on 14th April, making it significantly easier for you to pick up your favourite craft beers without the hassle of lugging heavy bags to the car parks.
Here is everything you need to know about the new rules, how to stay on the right side of the traffic wardens, and how our Click and Collect service is about to become your new best friend.
The New BCBC Access Hours
Previously, the window for getting a vehicle into the town centre was pretty tight—you had to be done by 10 AM or wait until after 6 PM. BCBC has officially extended these times, which is a massive win for local high street shoppers.
The new vehicle access hours for the town centre are:
Morning: Up until 11:00 AM
Afternoon/Evening: Anytime after 4:00 PM
This gives you an extra hour in the morning and a massive two extra hours in the afternoon to get your car close to the shop!
Staying Legal: Loading vs. Parking
While this is brilliant news, it is really important to understand exactly what the council allows during these times so you don’t end up with an unwanted parking ticket ruining your weekend beer budget.
The extended hours are strictly for loading and unloading, not for general parking.
What you CAN do: You can legally drive up, stop near the shop, and load heavy, pre-purchased goods (like a 12-case of West Coast IPAs or a hefty selection of Pastry Stouts) directly into your boot.
What you CANNOT do: You cannot pull up outside, leave your car, and spend twenty minutes browsing the shelves and chatting with us about hop profiles.
Traffic wardens will be actively monitoring vehicles, and they need to see that continuous loading is taking place. If the car is left unattended for too long while you browse, they will issue a penalty.
The Ultimate Hack: Use Our Click and Collect
Because the new rules require you to load and go, our Click and Collect service is the absolute perfect way to take advantage of the extended hours. It keeps you completely legal and saves you from carrying heavy cans across town.
Here is how to do it like a pro:
Browse from the Sofa: Head to our website the night before or during your lunch break. Browse our full live inventory, pick out your favourite lagers, pales, and sours, and pay online. Select “Click and Collect” at checkout.
We Do the Heavy Lifting: We will carefully pick your order, pack it securely into a box, and have it waiting right by the front door.
The Quick Pit Stop: Drive into the town centre during the new access hours (before 11 AM or after 4 PM). Pull up near the shop, give us a wave or pop your head in the door, and we will hand your box straight over!
It is completely legal, incredibly convenient, and means you get the freshest craft beer without breaking a sweat.
Next time you are planning a fridge restock, give the Click and Collect a try during the new access hours. We’ll have your cans packed, chilled, and ready to go!
