Fresh Drop Deep Dive: Exploring As Intended Brewing Co.

We are always on the hunt for exciting new independent breweries to bring to the shelves here at Nearest Beer Shop. This week, we are thrilled to introduce a fresh delivery from a brilliant new name in the UK craft beer scene: As Intended Brewing Co. Whether you are a dedicated haze-chaser or a lover of crisp, bitter West Coast styles, this delivery has something special for your glass. Here is the deep dive into who they are and the two fantastic beers we’ve just landed: Soliloquy and Crown Shyness.

Who Are As Intended Brewing Co?

Based down on the south coast in Sussex, As Intended Brewing Co. is one of the most exciting new microbreweries to emerge recently. Founded with a straightforward dream to brew “easy-going, simple, and tasty modern beers,” they officially launched in the summer of 2025.

Despite being the new kids on the block, their brewing execution is incredibly polished. They don’t rely on gimmicks; instead, they focus on absolute quality, brilliant hop sourcing, and doing things exactly as the name suggests—as intended. We have managed to secure two of their highly sought-after releases. Here is exactly what you can expect when you crack open a can.

Soliloquy | West Coast IPA (5.9% ABV)

The Vibe: Crisp, piney, and beautifully bitter.

The West Coast IPA is having a massive resurgence right now, and Soliloquy is a textbook example of why we love the style. Conditioned for absolute clarity, this beer pours a beautiful bright golden colour and delivers that satisfying, resinous bite that old-school IPA lovers crave.

  • The Hop Profile: Brewed with a classic, heavy-hitting trio of Citra, Centennial, and Cascade.

  • Tasting Notes: Expect a big hit of zesty citrus upfront, followed by deep, dank pine, all balanced perfectly by a clean, dry malt finish. It is highly aromatic and aggressively refreshing.

  • Best Paired With: A sunny afternoon, or a spicy local takeaway.

Crown Shyness | DDH Hazy Pale Ale (5.0% ABV)

The Vibe: Tropical, soft, and dangerously drinkable.

If you prefer your pales on the juicier side, Crown Shyness is going to be your new favourite. A “Double Dry Hopped” (DDH) pale ale, this beer is built for maximum aroma and a thick, pillowy mouthfeel.

  • The Hop Profile: This is where it gets exciting. As Intended has paired the reliable pine and citrus notes of Simcoe with a rare, experimental New Zealand hop called NZH-106.

  • Tasting Notes: The result is a beautifully light, hazy pale that bursts with bold citrus and pine, layered with subtle, sweet stone fruit and a delicate touch of melon. The finish is soft, velvety, and incredibly smooth.

Freshness Guaranteed

Because both of these beers rely heavily on delicate hop oils for their incredible aromas, we treat them with the respect they deserve. The moment these cans arrived from Sussex, they went straight into our commercial fridges here in Bridgend.

By maintaining this strict cold storage, we guarantee that the tropical melon notes in the Crown Shyness and the crisp pine in the Soliloquy are just as vibrant when you open them at home as they were the day they left the brewery.
