As rum lovers my wife, Nicola and I had explored the idea of creating our very own Welsh Spiced Rum for years, and the time afforded to us by moving to a quieter life back in Wales.
Wales is renowned for its incredible coastline and dotted along it are some equally amazing little towns and hamlets, like Porthcawl, our hometown. With one-off independent shops, stunning beaches, must-visit attractions, and mouth-watering places to eat and drink, Porthcawl is the perfect place to take a weekend break without having to travel too far. Instinctively, we knew what to call our rum – two of the things that Wales is most famous for, Coal & Gold.
